Jauary 27, 2005 - Tony In Laos
Some shots from Si Phan Don...Southern Laos (4000 Islands region)...Crossed over into Laos a few days ago and really had to turn it down a few notches from Cambodia.....very slooooooow pace of life....say it's one the more traditional regions for Laos culture...tourism much less developed....a few hours a day of electricity...in the extreme south of Laos, only a few kilometers from Cambodian border.....took an evening bike ride the other night and got dark- got to see an incredible orange full moon rise over the Mekong- pretty incredible. Got a wild hair and took a 36 hour bus trip into the north...people saying I had to see the city of Luang Prubang and surrounding region...not much time but in Luang Prabang now and will hop on a boat tomorrow to Nong Khiaw and northward to Muang Ngoi to see what is supposedly some the of the most beautiful river scenery in Laos....then rally back to Bangkok by feb. 2nd to catch the plane into LA....off to Oz.....hopefully some dredging Kirra baaaarrellllls just waiting for us...Tony
