March 30, 2005 - Melbourne, Australia
After driving 8 hours during the night, we finally pulled into Melbourne half asleep. Eddie has two really good friends that he met 11 years ago (Gina & Sarah) that live in Melbourne. We ended up staying with Gina, although she was hardly home. They are both flight attendants for Qantas Airlines. Eddie met them in South America while on holiday and has stayed in touch with them since. Melbourne definitely has a very cool, relaxed vibe to it. It is definitely not as uptight as Sydney. Sarah & Gina both live near St. Kilda which is a suburb of Melbourne. St. Kilda is a very cool area with lots of outside cafes and bars. Great place to just walk around and people watch. Since there are no waves in Melbourne, our stay here will be short. Planning to head south west in a few days in search of some good uncrowded waves. While in Melbourne, we did also meet up for drinks with a friend that Tony had met while traveling in Asia named Lizzy.
The journey continues...........
