April 30th, 2005 - Mardi Grass In Nimbin, Australia
Just as we were about to close out the trip, we got word that there was a
Mardi Gras Festival, uh...I mean Mardi GRASS festival.....take a look and you'll
know why they call it the mardi GRASS Festival.....apparently Nimbin, about
an hour inland from Byron Bay, is the marijuana capital of Australia and once
a year there is a worldwide gathering of marijuana enthusiasts from all over
the world.....
We were told there are such activities as the Bong Olympics, the Iron Grass
man, the high roller contest and several other competitions which centered
around being a marijuana enthusiast.....apparently people from Amsterdam, and
other marijuana capitals of the world, smuggle there native crop in and come
here to compete for limited recognition in High Times magazine.
Have a laugh, and get a taste of some prime Australian Grass culture......
