May 23rd, 2005 - South Island Of New Zealand
Hey everyone, this is Eddie talking! I am currently traveling solo on the South Island of New Zealand. Steff went back to LA and Tony is in Australia getting some physical therapy and rest. I got recruited to pick up a Van from Christchurch (South Island) and drive it back to the Hamilton which is on the North Island. To make a long story short, a friend of a friend purchased 8 passenger vans from Budget Rent A Car and needed them driven back to Hamilton. Since I still haven’t purchased a Van, I volunteered my services with the exception that I could take a week or so to surf my way back. In addition to that, my expenses are also being paid for! So I guess it’s like I am on a paid vacation (and I don’t even have a job)! I will say that the weather on the South Island has been extremely cold and rainy. Spent the whole day driving in the rain in search of waves, and no luck. Not much for swell at the moment. Finally pulled into Pixton which is where I will catch the ferry (with the Van) to cross over to the North Island. Unfortunately, I just found out that I have to wait 7 hours before the next Ferry departs. I also had to wait for an hour and a half on the drive up because of a mud slide blocking the road. So I guess it’s time to update the webpage and catch up on emails since I have nothing but time on my hands. The weather has cleared up so at least I can go out and take a few pics of this town. That’s about it for now!
