May 26th, 2005 - Whakatane & Rotorua, New Zealand

Woke this am in Whakatane to NO Surf! I was planning to keep heading north up the East coast but unfortunately the road was closed due to a town washing out from the heavy rain. So I decided to head inland towards the town of Rotorua which is located in the mountains. Rotorua sits on a lake and is well known for its Natural Hot Springs as well as adventure type sports. The entire town smells like sulfur. Reminds me of one big rotten egg! Being the princess that I can be at times, I decided pamper myself today with a mud bath as well as sit in some mineral baths. I must say that it was just what the doctor ordered! Tomorrow I am going to get a little more adventurous and do some Sledging down the white water rapids. Sounds kind of hazardous if you ask me! The journey continues...
