May 27th, 2005 – Sledging In Rotorua, New Zealand
Decided to be a little more adventurous today and signed up to do some Sledging down the white water rapids. Basically, it’s almost like you are riding a Boogie Board down the rapids. To begin, I must say that the water was probably the coldest that I have ever been in! By the time I was done, I couldn’t feel anything. My legs and feet were completely numb! But to be honest, that was the least of my worries. I made many new friends today with all of the local rocks in the river. Everyone’s body took a pretty serious beating. As I sit here in pain, I really look back and ask myself “What were you thinking Eddie?” These days, I really try to avoid doing things that will keep me from surfing. I hit my knee and hip pretty hard on a rock today as I was going over some falls. I am in a lot of pain not to mention having a hard time walking. Can’t even imagine trying to get up on my surf board at the moment! I think that it’s time to go soak in a nice & hot mineral bath, so off I go! I must say that the Kiwi’s come up with some of the craziest sports!
