June 25th, 2005 - Surfing Raglan, New Zealand
Just got back to New Zealand a few days ago. Tony is now in Fiji and Flipper was waiting for me at the airport. Winter is definitely here in New Zealand. It's been cold and raining and I just can't wait to get to Fiji in four more days. Then it's warm water and sunshine for the remainder of my journey. It was very cold sleeping in Flipper last night! Pulled into Raglan yesterday afternoon to some decent surf. It's been a few weeks since I've had some good waves. The pics below are from today's surf in Raglan. It was very fun, but definitely no where near as good as it can be. The funny thing is that if I were back in Huntington Beach I would be so stoked on today's surf. Now that I have been so spoiled here I have become very picky about my surf. I was going to go out for an evening session today but I just couldn't be bothered knowing that I had to put on a wet and cold wetsuit. The water was definitely cold enough today where I could have worn my wetsuit hood. The forecast is showing some increasing swell for the week so hopefully I will close out my trip in NZ with some epic waves in Raglan. The journey continues.....
