June 26, 2005 - More Surf In Raglan, New Zealand

Eddie here, still hanging in Raglan since I got back to New Zealand. The surf is just too good to leave this place. I actually timed it just right because it had been flat for the past two weeks. Winter is definitely here and I feel it every night when I sleep in Flipper. Flipper is pretty much like an Ice Box. I have a sleeping bag and about 5 blankets that I throw over me which is not too bad. The worse part is when I have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom; it's just absolutely freezing! I did reconnect with my friends Jeremy & Sidney who live in Raglan but are originally from California. Jeremy actually went to school with my friend Karl from home. I must say that it's a small world!

Jeremy & Sidney live on the hill just above the surf break in Raglan. They have the most amazing view as you will see in the picks below. The house they live in is all wood inside and has lots of charm. They even have a spa on their patio with a view of the waves. They have been nice enough to let me defrost in their spa everyday. We usually get into it before we go surf just to loosen up the joints then get in just after we surf to defrost. It's been so nice having the spa available; it really makes a difference.
