June 29, 2005 – Arriving In Fiji
After a night of no sleep and a few hassles at the airport, I finally arrived
in Fiji. For some reason I thought that my flight was leaving at 9pm when
actually it was 9am. I didn’t realize this until about 11:30pm the
night before. So I was pretty much up all night doing laundry and packing
until 4:00am then got up at 5am. On top of all that, I had some issues with
my airline ticket when I arrived at the airport. Spent an hour on the phone
with United in regards to some changes that I made with a mileage ticket
in which they did not follow through on. Fortunately, everything got squared
away and I even ended up in Business Class.
When I got off the plane I was greeted by several large Fijian ladies with BIG Afro’s. The women here are definitely very tough looking to say the least. Ended up on an hour bus ride to the Sea Shell Resort hoping to meet up with Tony and Alex. Once I finally arrived, Tony and Alex were there along with Mike (From California) who they picked up along the way! Not really sure what I think of Fiji at this point. I am still having mixed thoughts at this point! Well, below are just a few pics from my journey to the Sea Shell Resort. By the way, the slogan here is: “It’s not the Ritz, but it’s cheap!” How will the journey continue???
