July 26, 2005 - Dreamland, Bali

Note: Because internet connections in Bali are so slow, I have to limit the amount of photos I post. I also have to compress the photos so much that the quality is not the greatest

Below are some pics of one of the nicest beaches in Bali when you just want to chill out! It does get some decent waves, but nothing compared to some of the other reef breaks near by. I have been coming to this beach for the past seven years and have made many local friends. I always end up hanging at the same Warungs every year. For those of you who do not know, a Warung is basically like a Hut on the beach where you can rent a room, buy food & drinks, or just chill at for the day. Dreamland is full of Warungs as you will see in the pics. It's a great feeling when I pull up and all of my old friends are yelling my name as I make my way to the beach!

A funny story: There is a lady in the pics below called Mama Ketut. She recently sold a chunk of land that was passed down from her father for $800,000.00 US. She is pretty much like being a Billionaire in the US with that kind of money in Bali! Even though she is now super rich, you will still find Mama Ketut trying to make a buck on the beach by selling sarongs. She is definitely one of the hardest ladies to bargain with! The journey continues.......
