Note: Because internet connections in Bali are so slow, I have to limit the amount of photos I post. I also have to compress the photos so much that the quality is not the greatest.
Today was the start of my seven day boat surf trip around Indonesia. The boat is called Desert Storm and is about 80 feet in length. It’s your basic wood style Indonesian boat and believe it or not it’s powered by only four 40 hp outboard motors. I can almost paddle my surfboard as fast as the boat! It normally takes about 14 surfers max but on this trip it’s only seven of us total. It’s actually the perfect crew and everyone on the boat is very cool. There are basically 4 Indonesian Crew members and then myself, Naomi from California, and 5 cool Aussie boys ( Dylan, Luke, Sean the Barrel King, Mitch, and Zen).
Our first stop today was the Island of Nusa Lembongan. There are a few surf spots here but we all ended up paddling out at a place called Shipwrecks. And yes, there is a shipwreck there! As far as the surf is concerned, it was by far my worst surf since my arrival in Bali. It was only about 2 – 3 feet and super crowded, not really what I signed up for! We did hit the shore after our surf to check out the Island. Tonight we are leaving here at 3am and will head to a world class wave called Desert Point on the Island of Lombok. It’s definitely an adventure being on this boat; very Indonesian in all ways! If you've been to Indo, then you can understand what I am refering to. The journey continues…..
