Note: Because internet connections in Bali are so slow, I have to limit the amount of photos I post. I also have to compress the photos so much that the quality is not the greatest.
After leaving Scar Reef today, we decided to have a quick stop at the Gilli Islands just to relax a little after a long travel day on the boat. We also needed to stock up on some ice as well as a few other supplies. While the crew was taking care of business, a few of us headed to shore to check out the place.
The Gilli Islands are just off of the coast of Lombok. It’s a pretty chill place where lots of people come to just relax and have some peace of mind. There are no motorized vehicles on this Island. The taxi service here is basically a Mule pulling somewhat of a carriage. We got suckered into taking a tour around the Island via the Mule Taxi for just $2.00 US. Very interesting experience! As far as the Island itself, there is actually one wave that breaks here and it only breaks on a BIG swell. So it basically wasn’t breaking today. There are lots of cool places to stay with all kinds of loungy type restaurants and bars on the beach. There are also no paved roads on this Island. It will definitely be worth another visit later down the road in my journey. Well, got to go…. Enjoy the pics.
