Day 4 – Boat Trip
Yesterday was another great day of surf in the Mentawais. We surfed a spot called “Pussies” which is a jacking right hander. From the boat it really didn’t look like much because we could only see it from the back. When we actually paddled out it was over head and just super fun. On top of that, we had pretty much had it to ourselves all day. I wasn’t able to get any pics because of where we were anchored. We did catch our first fish today as you will see in the picks below.
As far as today, it was an epic day! We surfed a place called Lance’s Right (aka Hollow Trees) which is pretty much a heavy barreling right hander. There is also an extremely shallow reef on the inside called the “Surgeon’s Table”. You can only just imagine why! The waves were pretty heavy today and we were all definitely a little haired out at first. The take off is steep, fast, and very intense! You definitely have to have your game on and NO hesitations. I did manage to get tossed twice and had a greeting from the reef on my last wave. See pics below of my ass! I must say that the surf on this trip has been great! There are just so many quality waves in the Mentawais. I will definitely be coming back here next year! The journey continues….
