Day 6 – Boat Trip
Last night we slept in the bay at Macaroni’s hoping to catch it good this am. The surf dropped in size but there were still some super fun barrels to be had. The funny thing is that what we consider to be a shitty day here is a great day at home. Really can’t even imagine having to go back and surf Huntington Beach again! I just took a few shots on the way out today as we left in search of more waves.
Now I will share a few things about the boat besides the surf. As far as the crew, they are all very cool guys. We have three Aussies and one Indonesian working on the boat. Our Captain is only 23 years old and definitely a classic character. Then we have Hilsy and Eddie the cook who are just two guys getting paid peanuts, but surfing epic waves everyday. You definitely don’t work on the boat for the money! The food has also been excellent. There is one thing about the boat that I have been a little spooked about, and that’s all of the cockroaches. Believe it or not, our boat is full of them. Most of us have woken up at night with cockroaches crawling on our faces or body. At first I was having nightmares about it, but now I seem to be getting used to them. I just don’t want one crawling into my ear, mouth, or up my nose while I am sleeping!
We left Macaroni’s mid day and headed back to Lance’s right for an afternoon surf. It was definitely very small compared to what we surfed there a few days ago. On the way there we did do some trolling and ended up catching a nice size Wahoo. So that’s pretty much what we’ll be having for dinner tonight. Well, that’s about it for now. The journey continues….
