October 21st - Hanging With Tony In Bali
Hey everyone, hope all is well with you and wherever you may be in the world today. I just reconnected with Tony a few days ago here in Bali. Tony arrived in Bali the day that I left for Western Australia. He ended up staying in Bali just for a day then headed to G-Land for 2 weeks. He said that the surf was some of the biggest that he had ever seen in his life. G-Land is located on the Island of Java and is basically in the middle of nowhere! It’s a very heavy wave that breaks over a shallow reef. If you get seriously injured, it can take hours to get you proper medical attention. In the past three weeks there were 4 emergency airlifts out of G-land. One guy almost died after hitting the reef so hard that he had internal bleeding. Tony snapped one of his surfboards from just diving under a massive wave.
We are now back in Bali just waiting for the next swell.
Waves have been so small the past few days but a new swell was starting
to show this
afternoon.
Should be pumping tomorrow! On another note, I went to a local market the other
day where you could buy just about any kind of animal that you could think
of. I thought about buying a baby monkey for only $20.00 US. I so wanted to
get one but realistically it wouldn’t be fair to the monkey since I plan
to leave here in December. Hanging in Indo has really been just such an adventure.
I have met so many good people as well as so many characters. Not to mention
the adventure I have everyday on my motorbike. Sometimes I feel like I’m
in a video game when I am on my motorbike! In the past three days I got stopped
3 times by the police for no reason. The funny thing was that I got stopped
two days in a row by the same cop. The cop thought it was pretty funny too!
Below are just a few pics from the market as well as some waves from Tony’s
G-Land trip. The journey continues…..
