March 03, 2006 Work In Bali, Indonesia

Well, I have now been here for seven days and haven't even surfed yet. And no, I am not sick... All of my time from day to night has been occupied with some export stuff that I am doing. For those of you who weren't aware, I came back to Bali so early this year because I got an order to export 30,000 Handy Craft note books which will help fund my travels. Hopefully this is the start to a new business to avoid the corporate grind. I am shipping to California two full containers which both will have some extra room it. With that in mind, I've been shopping everyday buying all kings of things to stuff this container with and sell back at home. So far I have purchased lots of Jewelry, Women’s purses, Sarongs, some very LARGE antique wood carvings from Timor, and some really killer mahogany wood masks from Lombok that are framed. There are some pics below of the carvings so if anyone is interested they will be available sometime late March.

I seriously have been non stop dealing buying stuff as well as the note book order. Business can be very difficult over here. I am not too bummed that I haven't surfed yet because the waves have also been small lately and not to mention lots of rain. Should hopefully get in the water within the next few days. I did manage to meet up with my friend Tim (who lives here) for breakfast as well as some of my Indo buddies for dinner. Tomorrow we will load the first container then after that I will be able to relax and enjoy the Bali lifestyle for a few weeks. It is truly amazing how cheap you can find things over here for the amount of time that is spent to make one item. Most of the stuff that you buy is usually made in some village in the back of a house. Below are also a few photos of what they call a factory over here. Well, got to run.... The journey continues
