March 4, 2006 - First Container Leaves Bali

Today was another busy day in Bali. Went to the Cargo Company this am to load my first container. Ended up making some more last minute purchases to fill this container. I bought 5 more of the Antique masks from Timor. Spent most of my day at the warehouse making sure everything was packed correctly with the proper documentation. Today was also a Balinese holiday so after the container was loaded I was invited to stay for the Ceremony and food. I can finally relax after today for a while and tomorrow I will be hitting the surf no matter what.

Last night I had another close call on the motorbike. Riding a motorbike over here is just crazy. I was on my way to dinner with my buddy Petrus riding just next to me. We were going about 50mph and out of nowhere a dog ran into the road. I just missed it but unfortunately another Indo guy who was riding next to me hit it. It was a big bang and he ended up crashing and almost sliding into me. We stopped to help him and the guy was pretty scraped up. He was pretty lucky to walk away. Just another reminder of how dangerous it is to ride a motorbike over here. I keep having flash backs of when I hit a dog here last year.

Well, that's about it for now. I am off to get a massage.....
