March 27, 2006 Indonesian Furniture

Below are just a few photos of some of the items I am shipping home to sell. Most of the furniture that I purchased I designed myself as far as the carvings/motif. All of the furniture is hand carved primitive Timor style.

Besides some things to sell, I also had some bedroom furniture made for myself even though I have no home to put it in. I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity! I have spent so many hours the past two weeks at this furniture place designing the stuff and just following up to make sure I get what I ordered. You just can’t imagine how difficult things are here to get done! The famous words are “No Problem”. Well, here is my latest problem… In regards to my bedroom furniture, I ended up having these items made: Dresser, two night stands, bed, and a desk. All of the items were matching and pretty much a set. Time was definitely an issue to have everything finished to meet my container shipping date. In the process of making the stuff, I could see some of the nails and pins where they had connected pieces. They kept telling me that when it was finished you wouldn’t see anything. Well, in the end I could see everything and to make a long exhausting story short, so I didn’t take any of the bedroom furniture. I was pretty bummed in the end because the stuff looked really killer with the exception of there mess ups. The bed as you will see below turned out really nice. Since it was a bedroom set, it was pretty much take it all or nothing! And so I took nothing……….

If anyone is interested in any items, or know of someone who may be, then please pass them my info. Everything should be available first week of March. I have some of the following items available: Hand Carved Gazebo with Straw Grass roof, 3 tables with bench seats-can that be used indoor or outdoor, Crocodile bench, Large and medium hand carved masks from a palm tree trunk, and a handful of other miscellaneous items
