Tony Update-South Africa
The email below was sent to me from Tony on Sept 11, 2006
Hey Ed,
Back in Hawaii for a few weeks before returning to
New York and the real world....Below are some photos
that I meant to get to you a few months ago. Had a
Great run through South Africa and spent a lot of time
in Jeffrey’s bay hanging out, surfing supertubes, and
just waiting for swell at times. Can be a fickle
spot- would see storms hitting capetown pumping 25ft.
swells in, then anxiously awaiting the 1 day window
for them to arrive in jbay, only to have some of these
monster swells sweep right by....still got some epic
surf over the 2-3 months I spent in and out of
Jeffrey’s bay...one notable swell was the day after the
contest ended and most of the pros had left- 6 ft. and
pumping all day...
All in all had an incredible travel experience
throughout South Africa, with the dramatic landscapes,
diverse coastline, variety of surf, and extremely cool
people, was definitely one of my favorite travel
destinations over the last 2 years. I will truly miss
everything about the country. Tony….
