Feb 22nd, 2007 – Morocco Update
Spent this past week traveling around a little and exploring Morocco. Figured I’m here for a while so a few days of no surf is ok. Need to soak in the culture….. So I rented a car for the week and hit the road….The Moroccans drive like crazy, or better said is that they cant drive! They are a very aggressive culture.
Ok, here’s a quick summary of the week. Left my small town of Taghazout and took a 4 hour drive to Marrakech. The drive there was beautiful and saw so many interesting people in all of the villages that I drove through. I took lots of pics while I was driving, so there are a few blurry ones. Also, the Moroccans can get a little aggressive if you take there picture, so a lot of the shots were just taken secretly by just holding the camera down by my side. Once I pulled into Marrakech, it was an absolute madhouse of people. Got a room near the Medina, which is a famous plaza and market in the old city. At night there are food vendors and all kinds of entertainment to say the least. There are also small passages like a maze on the out skirts of the plaza with lots of shops. It’s like being a rat in a maze, and you can get so lost in there, which I did! Had to pay some kids to walk me back to my guest house. Anyway, not really in the mood for writing. It’s been an amazing trip so far-great surf, food, culture, etc… Below are a handful of pics from the past week. Also took a day trip to town called Imouzzer and Tafraout. The journey continues…..
