June 5, 2006 - Kuta Reef, Bali

I pulled up here today to take some pics as well as get a surf. There were only about 20 guys when I first showed up and the surf was pumping. I decided to shoot picks for the first hour then go for a surf after and pass out business cards in the water. Well, once I decided to get in the water there were now 60 guys trying to catch the same wave. Not to mention 10 Indo pro's catching all the good ones..... It was the most crowded surf in my life and very dangerous. People were ditching boards everywhere! Oh ya, before we showed up at Kuta Reef I was going to shoot at Airport Lefts. Unfortunately, our boat driver was retarded and we almost got taken out by three waves while trying to sit in the channel. Waves were coming our way and I was screaming at him to move as he reacted like a snail. It was a very stressful situation so we moved over to Kuta Reef where the channel is safer. Then after all that, we almost got taken out by two more waves at Kuta Reef. This guy just had no clue! Anyway, it all worked out in the end. Surf has been so good this past month! The journey continues...
